Parking
Paid public parking is available throughout King Harbor and the Redondo Beach Pier complex, within easy walking distance of the lagoon at 200 Portofino Way. - —Swim diapers are required for anyone still in diapers; appropriate swim attire is required at all times.
- —Only regular goggles are allowed — no face masks or snorkels. Rafts and flotation devices must stay shoreside of the roped area.
- —Umbrellas are permitted, but tents, easy-ups, and canopies are not.
- —No alcohol (10 a.m.–6 p.m. while the public is present), no glass containers, no pets, and no smoking anywhere on site.
- —At least one adult chaperone (18+) is required for every eight minors.

Background
History
Seaside Lagoon opened in 1962 and has been one of Redondo Beach's signature recreation facilities ever since, offering a protected saltwater swimming experience on the bayside of King Harbor. The lagoon is uniquely tied to the adjacent power plant: the roughly 1.5 million gallons of saltwater that fill it are drawn from about 50 feet deep on the ocean side of the breakwater, routed to the neighboring steam-generating plant to cool its turbines, then piped under the street to the lagoon — chlorinated on the way in and de-chlorinated on the way back out to the harbor, with a flow-through rate near 200,000 gallons per hour. As the AES power plant winds down and the waterfront is reimagined, the long-term future and water source of the lagoon have become part of Redondo's broader harbor planning conversation. Mayor Jim Light contributed to a lagoon redesign plan during his years on the Harbor Commission (2016–2024).
